Excellence Framework for Patient Experience

What is the Excellence Framework?
A chapter-based practical guide which aims to improve the experience of care that matters to patients, drawing on the current research evidence, leading thinkers in the field and practical examples.
Developed by Patient Experience Policy Programme which is a collaboration between the Department of Health Public, Patient, Engagement and Experience Division and NHS North West.

Why will it be useful?
Patient experience is a core dimension of good quality care sitting alongside safety and clinical effectiveness.
The Excellence Framework will provide the information and practical help needed to build capability to ensure improvements in experience of care.

Who is it for?
Aimed at DH policy leads and senior managers and clinicians in the NHS

Who can participate?
Anyone with an interest in improving the experience of care!
We would particularly like to hear from; PALS, Service leads, anyone involved in forming policy and anyone with a leadership role within the NHS.

How will it be delivered?
As a lively web community where interested parties can review and discuss the content, but also as a book published in March 2012.

Why the Web Community?
We want to reach as many people as possible, not just in the UK but overseas, and draw on their experience.
We also want to form a community where these people can engage with each other, as well as with the Framework itself.
We want to deliver the Framework in a format that is flexible, that will live on after the end of the project and that can be easily expanded and updated.
