‘My encounters with health professionals continued this week. Tom revisited the vets and I had to go for fasting blood tests on Friday. What got my attention this time was the differences in the way we provide information.
The vet’s information is focused on one notice board. This month it’s about vaccinations for fleas and a discounted micro-chipping offer. Useful. By comparison my GP surgery had what I call a ticker tape display above the waiting room commenting on the number of flu vaccinations the practice had completed. Was that good or bad I reflected but my attention was quickly diverted to the statement that unless the condition of the toilets improves they will be locked! Mmmmmm… service?
Information is an important part of service experience. Information at the vets is clearly aimed at giving owners information in a way that helps them to make decisions about their pet treatment and protection. I am just not sure for whom and what the value was of the information at the GP surgery….other than the impression to avoid their dirty toilets and cross my legs till I got home. I can assure you Tom did the same too!’
