Short Biography for NHS Northwest – Emotion Cards
Pete Bowman is an established Children’s Book Illustrator / Author with 28 years experience.
He has worked for most of the World’s major Children’s Book Publishers, producing 48 books, translated in 20 languages and with over 200 editions throughout the world.
Pete has had two No1 bestsellers, his book ‘Is That What Friends Do’ was chosen to be the first book to appear on the launch of Cbeebies on BBC TV.
In the 1980’s Pete’s book ‘Amazing Maisy’ was shortlisted for the ‘Kate Greenaway Illustration medal’
In the 1990’s. he was shortlisted to Illustrate a book for Roald Dahl.
A number of his book characters have been merchandised, notably ‘Bedtime Bear’ – ‘Christmas Bear’ - ‘Tiny Ted’ and ‘Sweet William’ Bear & ‘Rose’ Bear for Interflora
Pete has contributed his time to many charities. He has helped Prince Charles’s, Princes Trust.
He contributed artwork to a set of Playing cards, the first ever set of cards to be printed on recycled paper. All proceeds of the card sales and Bonham’s Art Gallery exhibition went towards the South American Rainforest Appeal.
